Purge cone.

I’ve seen such things been sold in kits for extortionate money and thought that would be an easy thing for the little Myford to knock up.
Aluminium cone with barbed fitting for a pipe suitable for 20-40mm seamless tube purging.
As I’m not in a position at the moment to try it out I donated the device to our full time stainless fabrication man @Paul.
He cut up 2 lengths of tube and did half with the cone half without and from the results it seems it works pretty well.
Feed back I got was on the next one to use a slightly longer taper to help it fit better in the tube other wise it does it’s job.
Thanks Paul for the trial and I hope it proves useful for you on a job in the future.

Nice...I might have to knock a couple up sometime. Perhaps with a pushfit connection for 8mm nylon pipe as thats what we use at work on most purge fittings.
The universal fit would be handy for a mix of dairy and sched pipe.

Much nicer than wrapping kitchen foil round a pipe!
A taper close to morse taper would be self locking though a pita due to small range

The universal fit would be handy for a mix of dairy and sched pipe.

That's what I do mainly now. Dairy installs.
I think tapping it 1/4bsp then put press fit connectors would be a great idea as then can put 8 or 10mm grip flex in it for easy plug changes.

I have to say I’ve done a hell of a lot of purging over the years and kitchen foil is certainly not a method or material I’ve used in the past lol
An industrial foil tape however is quite common. 3m do a nice one.

It fits in the end of a pipe with the other end closed (with a vent hole) to allow the pipe to be easily filled with an inert gas or 'purged' of oxygen, to allow welding without ending up with any hard penetration- see the pictures.

The first pic shows hard penetration or sugaring, which is the last thing you want on a hygienic stainless pipeline.
