This is on a DRL lamp kit....what does this little resistor/capactor? do?
The black goes to negative/earth the yellow is for the sidelights + as a trigger to dim them at night
I've got them connected so they're always dim but just curious what it's for...

It's a diode and an electrolytic capacitor. The circuit diagram would help!

The diode could be a blocking diode to prevent a back-circuit and the capacitor to prevent spurious triggering.

The capacitor will probably be there to filter some of the noise in the cars electrics.

Intrigued why you've set the DRLs to be always dim. Are they too bright otherwise? I've been dazzled by several recently. Very distracting.

Diode is probably to guard against reverse connection and the cap is probably just a bit of smoothing. As Voipoi says, drawing it out might help, even though it's a simple circuit.

I know nothing (almost) about drawing out circuits etc....was just curious what it was so might have to learn a bit now!... I'm using the lights as replacement front markers on a truck so no need for the higher output DRL part and there's already connections to the sidelight power there for them so just have each light wired separately to existing wiring, would need to run wires back to the battery to have them wired up the way it says in the instructions

there must be a voltage sensor type thing in he lights too....engine needs to be runnig for them to stay on when the sidelights are on, if you switch the sidelights on with the engine off then they come on initially but go off after 10-15 secs

Does the vehicle have broken bulb detection? Sometimes use a resistor to generate the voltage drop to trigger the broke bulb circuit.

Would have to check Ron...the other lights aren’t connected atm so the warning does show. But I’ve seen the in line boxes you get when fitting LED indicators so it thinks it’s normal bulb but they’re huge compared to this...I’d think something this size would just heat up
