PVC curtains

Due to continuing ill health and total lack of funds I won't be able to build the new shed / workshop I had planned to I have somewhere to play over the winter.
The intention now is to partition bottom part of the garage with the side door so I'll have an area 9' wide (width of garage) by 8' deep. That way I can heat cheaper and pile up all the treasures / junk in the other 9' x 10' of garage with the main up & over door.
The partition will only be temporary (like a lot of my projects and then they are there for years !) so will probably simply be hardboard on timber frame.
Another alternative, which I'd also like for the carport, is pvc strip curtains as found in warehouses. This appeals to me as I can then remove the curtain in spring and store away for another year whereas the hardboard would have to go to tip.
Quick look shows pvc curtains can be quite dear so can anyone recommend a cheap source ?

What about shower curtains? probably get some cheap ones from one of the big DIY sheds.

I bought a rollend of firemans trouser fabric (fireproof) from here:
I made a 6ft x 60ft welding curtain out of it - about 40 quid inc. delivery.
Alternatively - there was a company selling billboard advertising rubberised canvas sheets on ebay.

wooden frame cheap tarp, not exactly resistant to welding spatter but will keep the draughts at bay.

With pvc curtains the track and clips work out expensive. I suppose I could buy a roll of curtain (not too dear) and attach alternative ways.

just use the snap on eyelets, and some fencing wire to make some loops, or buy a box of the plastic shower curtain type rings, and make up some tubing railing hung from the ceiling, doesn't need anything fancy..
cost very little

I do that already every year for the carport. A tarp has extra eyelets added but problem is wind. It's so strong that the tarp either blows up like balloon or simply rips eyelets out over time. Initially I thought pvc curtain might work better but on refection whilst it will give slightly and allow passage of the wind between strips that then defeats the idea of trying to make it more comfy
Width of carport is slightly over 8' so might look around for an old 8' patio door as that could be cheaper than making full height gates.

If you find a local building site the builders usually for their show house convert the garage to an office by fitting a patio door in place of the garage door.
Then when the house becomes a home the garage door is refitted and the patio door scrapped, I have two from that source FOC!

Check the web to see if there is a commercial vehicle body builders near you. If there is go talk to them nicely and ask them if they've got any old wagon curtains, we just skip ours unless anyone wants them. New curtains also come wrapped in smaller pieces of curtain material to protect them they also tend to go in the skip. There loads thicker than tarpaulin and can be joined and formed into useful shapes with a hot air gun and a wallpaper roller, someone I know used some to make a roof for an old 2cv.

I have used http://www.pvc-strip.co.uk/pvc-strip-curtains.html before and worked out not too bad. As already said much cheaper to make your own holders and just buy a roll or 2..

Lorry curtain is the way to go, its straps along the sides will allow you to strap the botton edge to a bar and wont flap in wind

Eyelets ripping out can be helped by using bungee cord rather than wire or rope through them.
