Quick Airline Connectors

i was just wondering if anyone could explain the quick release airline connectors

is there different types

i keep seeing

pcl ?
euro ?
euro pcl ?
tappered ?
paralell ?

i thought i had it sussed but my stuff turned up today and they dont connect

Yes, there are various different types and generally they are not interchangable. Can't count the number of times I've seen one type forced into a different type and either being jammed or leaking badly !
PCL is very common, so is Euro. PCL is an actual manufacturer who designed and made that type, but it is now pattern made by many different companies.
IMHO the very best connectors are Staubli or Schrader.

I use a y piece with pcl and euro on the outlets,most aldi /new gear i've bought has been euro,even pcl has a faster flowing range ,I chose not to keep up and just replace with pcl/sealey/draper which i think are interchangeable

Obliged for that, thanks. QR air couplings are a mine field, there are just so many types !!
I was going to change all mine to Staubli but then I realised how much of my air equipment is fitted with Snap-On fittings ! A throw back to when I was buying Snap-On like a mad person !

so euro is 1 type and pcl is the other the euro pcl by draper are they euro made by pcl not the standard

i use them on the 6mm jet 90cfm pot and allso on the 3mm jet pot using 3/4 hose theres no auto seals in them . just use ball valves . no loss of air

Thats what I was thinking, thats normally only used on 3/4" and 1" hose !!

i only use the 3/4 hose on the pots . better cooling and flow and a tank for extra cooling and water drain

I just stick with PCL fittings, and then use a short inline adaptor for other fittings:

Make a few of those up with various sockets and you're sorted.

Rectus do patterns of a number of other types so they may well do the Schrader.
