R-Tech Welders - any good?

Hi, I have just been looking at R-Tech welders, specifically the 180 amp portable and around £500 and the three in one inverter welder at approximately double that price, not sure I can stretch that far but it does look good.

Anybody got experience with these welders? They seem to offer a three-year no quibble guarantee which is nice to have, claim to use quality parts in construction but don't actually say where they are made.

I'm sure you'll get lots of comments on the R-Tech welders on this forum, so I'll leave others to chime in on that. What I will say though is that I wouldn't bother with the three-in-one. For that price, you'll get the 180 A MIG welder and a separate DC TIG welder and each one will probably be better at its specialism than the three-in-one.

Not just my opinion (although I agree with it): that was the opinion I overheard one of the R-Tech sales guys telling a customer when I was in their trade counter shop thing.

I would agree with that.... Its like a 5 in one heat press. Its better than an iron but does not press plates and mugs or even sublimation that well.
But if its all you can afford its probably better than nothing..... Unless you are selling item.

I bought an r-tech MIG180 in 2016 for around £400 interest free payment. I can weld easier with it than my old CEBORA pocketmig which was getting difficult to keep running. Never had any problems with it, though I am an occasional amateur user.

From reading this forum there are better welders out there for what R-tech now charges now, though I have no regrets in my purchase. I keep hearing their service is excellent, though I have never needed to contact them.

I too upgraded to a an r-trech from a cebora pocket MIG, all be it to a PRO 250-i. I also have a AC/DC 201 Mig and water cooler i got 2nd hand from here.

Same for me, except I did splurge on the 3-in-1 MTS 255 (and used the interest-free option too). I do use the MIG and arc (although I use my dinky little £90 amazon arc welder more often) and I keep thinking I'll get round to TIG at some point.

But as Rannsachair says you can probably get cheaper - I'm still happy with mine though.
