I'm just re-doing my floor and I thought I'd put up some pictures. It's been down about 8 years now and been painted a couple of times, but the surface keeps peeling up because the 'fat' of the concrete isn't so strong where it was worked a lot when laid. It was a day as hot as it is now and I had to keep adding water to the readymix to keep it workable.
So I've borrowed a machine from work which is used for grinding back small areas of concrete and I'm using that to remove the fat from the surface and give a much more durable floor to paint. It's a cup wheel on a 9" grinder with a silicone shroud and you attach it to a dust vac. We use top grade vacs and bags and it stops you producing a cloud of dust, though you do get a little especially if you run off and edge so I've covered my lathes with dust sheets.
Anyway, the pics speak for themselves. After I've done it all I'm going to re-paint it light grey, just so it seals the surface and stops oil soaking in.
