Reciever pressure rating

Hi

I have just bought a 2.5hp 50lt nutool compressor. It was advertised as able to run at 11bar but it is cutting out at 8bar. The tank does have 11bar stamped on its plate so i assume that is the Max pressure? Could i turn the auto cut off up to 9-10bar or is that likely to damage it?

The receiver won't be bothered by 10 bar although it is possible the safety valve may be rated below 10 bar. The only other issue is the compressor has to work harder to reach the higher pressure but as long as you respect the duty cycle it should be ok.

My Clarke is rated at 150 psi, but the extra load on the motor was noticeable at this pressure so I run it at 100.

I think you have to accept that ratings on DIY compressors tend to be optimistic!
