Recommend me a water filter for a 10bar compressor?

Hi all

eagerly awaiting delivery of this and was wondering whether I should fit a water filter?

According to the specs, it is;
• Air displacement: 14CFM
• Motor: 3HP
• Tank Capacity: 90 Litre air receiver
• Max Working Pressure: 150psi (10BAR)

When I look at Amazon, ebay, etc. there is oodles of choice for a water trap at £12...£20 but they all seem to be rated as max 150psi in, ~120psi out.

Then when I look at the more grown-up sites, we're into the £70 up to hundreds or even thousands (yikes) of pounds.

I don't want to restrict the airflow on my new unit before I've even got it out of the box. Do you think the 150psi output is optimistic and one of these lower-end filters would do?
Or can anyone suggest a relatively inexpensive trap that would offer more free flow at 150psi?

i have a norgen filter on one comp the rolls royce and a cheapo machine mart on another both remove water just get a half inch bsp one though no smaller , they can handle over 60cfm volume dont wurry about the pressure

take a look on ebay for norgren regulators with water traps.

I've been using a Parker one for a few years and it's great. Prices vary a lot though so shop around.

So it's the CFM that's important, rather than the PSI?

I've had problems with Clarke filter/regulators.

I've been using a Parker one for a few years and it's great. Prices vary a lot though so shop around.

I had problems with sealey ones, I think they are the same just re badged. Terrible casting meaning the threads wouldn't seal, it was a case of 4th time lucky.

water traps don't do jack unless you condense the moisture first.

Yeah - at the low end there only seems to be two different traps, rebadged with a bunch of different names.

water traps don't do jack unless you condense the moisture first.

If you have filter/regulator use as high an input pressure as you can then the pressure drop across the regulator will cause a drop in temperature which should cause most of the water to condense out.

it has taken me about 8 years to figure out where to put everything to make it useful / accessible and I recon it could still be improved....

or is it that you are good at making mountains out of mole hils





and saying you have too many tools............isnt that like reading the instructions on flatpack furnature and asking someone for directions
watch out for that big tube
