hi all with the recent sale of my milling machine i have a budget of £500 to spend on a single phase air comp. i will need 14cfm fad minimum. does any one have any recommendations? i have been looking at these;

a little out of my budget at the moment

I have always been a fan of ABAC compressors but if you only have £500 I doubt you will get the spec you require.

I have the B3914 with a 150L tank which gives about 10CFM FAD which was about £600.

You would need to step up to the BX3828 which has another 3hp motor on it and a 270L tank which gives 20CFM FAD but is about £1600 !

I have an Abac, been very good. Their prices do seem a lot higher now than when I got mine. Liked that they had local engineers (at the time anyway), where with fleabay or other remote ones if it goes wrong, you courier it back.

It's worth talking to Gary at Shiremoor, he does new and good second-hand. Got a 3hp/150 off him for just over half your budget, s/h but very good nick.

14cfm FAD would mean nearly a 5hp motor. Single phase 3hp usually you get 14cfm displacement, and about 9 or 9.5 FAD.
It's worth check the duty cycle if poss, as well as the apparent hp and FAD.
