Reconditioning fixed steady "fingers"

The bronze inserts (well the top one mostly) on my Colchester Triumph fixed steady is worn out, down to the steel outer. So my question is, is the phosphor bronze inserts a press fit, and does it need boring out? Anyone done this?

As you have to recondition them anyway, is there any benefit to re-engineering them at the same time?

Maybe make them (or have the capacity to) accommodate standard bronze, a nylon insert or a bearing. Even if you only need one of these right now, it would save work in the future when a different need arises.

I agree many of the newer ones have small wheels/ bearings in the ends
