Record swivel vice restore

I've had this for about 3 years, stripped it down and dipped it as soon as I bought it then life got in the way and it’s been in bits in bare metal ever since just getting in the way ‍

So I’ve decided before the lathe arrives, that I better get some of this stuff sorted.
Bought some evaporust yesterday and started getting rid of the surface rust again.
Managed to get the base clean and etch-Primed yesterday, will update later with more pictures.

So I got a bit more done today this is out of the evaporust

Q/R for swivel

All the fasteners cleaned up too

Everything was etch primed and then I grabbed what I thought was primer/ undercoat

Turned out it was topcoat so I’ll need to scuff and prime again

Got the screw out and cleaned up too while the moveable jaw is soaking

Is it wrong that I really quite like it in white ?

Moveable jaw is out and cleaned up, I decided I can’t leave it with the broken bolt in place for the (missing) pipe jaw though
So I’ll drill it out and re-tap
Then I can make up a pipe jaw at a later date, or draw one up and get it laser cut from Domex or Hardox plate.

I’ve cleaned up the little 80 a bit as well but no pics today, and the No3 is stripped and soaking in evaporust too.
I’ll get some more pics tomorrow

So I got some more done today
Polished up the bits that need it on both 75 and 80 then got some etch primer on and took some bad pics ‍

Imp jaw in etch primer

And the moveable jaw from the 75

and to give you an idea on the polished bits, this has been scuffed ready for repainting with primer/undercoat too

Rubbed down and a coat of primer/ undercoat on everything

and the #3 moveable jaw is out of soak and ready for etch primer

So, No3 moving jaw into etch primer:

then into paragon paints undercoat (which is much nicer)

And some colour on the other bits, but will need at least 1 more coat, probably 2

So I finally got them back together, painted and the polished/ bare steel has been waxed.
Still need to get the gold leaf for the lettering though

It’s a fair size, 5.5” jaws and 7.5” opening from memory

And the final piece of the puzzle (apart from the gold leaf) was the missing pipe jaw.
Which is now sorted

and holding a bit of 38mm CDS rollcage tube, modified with a cut out to refit the spring and pin to this vice last week
