refurb on old drill

after owning an old churchill pillar drill for the last 30 years. it was 20 year old when i bought it now looking worst for wear but mechanicaly sound i decided a refit 2 be in order .the only thing wrong with it was a worn chuck and belt and a modification to the table namely had no slots in for clamping down the vice . machine stripped cleaned and painted .table mounted on miller 2 slots machined in reasembled repainted as good as new the cost £50 to buy £12 for new chuck of e bay. a new belt £4.00 . 5 quid for paint and some spare time

Nice job, but i'd have gone for a keyless chuck. There's not a machine in our workshop that hasn't had one fitted.

i know just missed getting an albrecht one trouble was getting the jacobs taper to fit drill i think its jacobs 20

can you turn up an adaptor? maybe canablise the old chuck?

the one fitted is the right taper now .just took a month before i got one cheap enough i put a silversteel test bar in it run out is 1 thou over a 4inch length

Was supposed to get one with mine but the seller 'lost' it What he really meant was, someone made him an offer
