Having killed the my old 2nd hand compressor I bought a clarke raider 3hp 100l on vat free.
Reading up on here I put a couple of drops in 15mm copper pipe and plumbing fittings connected to a wall mounted regulator/filter for ease of connection.
Now yesterday was the first time I used it and I was disappointed to say the least.
I washed getting a massive pressure drop at the regulator of 30-40psi with resultant poor running of airtool!
So, last night night I searched threads here and decided to test the output.
So from 110psi to 50 pi the tank regulator took 40s with std pcl quick connector attached. Changing this to the tank outlet it reduced to 20s, so that's more like it.
Moving to the short connection hose I had a Y piece with non return valves so I could run my smaller compressor too if needed, now this little blighter really sapped the flow upto 45s!!
So removed this and connected directly to my pipework, at the wall mounted regulator it takes 25s and air tools get minimal pressure drop, result!
So, I've learnt that my compressors regulator is restrictive - I'm running off the tank side now as I've a regulator further down stream, am I OK doing this? Any recommendations for regulator?
and can anyone recommend a decent non return valve?
Cheers
Oh, and I'm wondering how I can connect the old compressors 50l tank as an auxiliary receiver?
