regulator setup on co2

I got a new regulator today from BOC, not the cheapest, anyway whats the best flow rate for co2 for mig? ill upload a pic to show you what i had it on.

ill also upload a test piece that i practiced on. in the test weld i found a brown residue left on top in certain places. ive seen this before when in college whilst doing practical welding. any advice would be great.

Use 10 LPM.

CO2 will have more brown residue, helps with a near vertical torch angle.

There's no real co2 reg setting that you must have it's just what ever you like or may need to stop porosity from happening.

The brown slag will be the skin of the metal, the skin is there simply to allow the steel to be transported and not get surface rust.

A general setting of around 10 L/Min will be ok for general use, but can vary up or down slightly depending on material thickness, current used and working conditions. The brown slag that forms at the toes of mig welds made using CO2 is often mistaken as being the copper coating of the wire. The slag is actually referred to as silicates, oxides of the silicon, manganese and iron present in mig wire. Silicates will also form when using Argon/CO2 mixes but to a lesser extent, depending on the percentage of CO2 present in the gas mix.
