regulator testing ?

Does anyone know the procedure / cost for having a regulator tested?

do you mean on a compressor or shielding gas? on a compressor the gauge is checked for accuracy with a hand pump and calibrated gauge and the blow off valve is hand pumped till it blows and the pressure checked

I mean a regulator gauge for shielding gas. I have sold one i bought years ago and put in the garage, on ebay and the buyer is moaning that its only tested till 2012 or something.? Obviously after a discount.

as far as i know there bin at end of test job

I think they are supposed to have an inspection once the date is up/approaching, to have a visual check on them, and replace perishable parts.

A bit on theBOC website about it.

Id be tempted to sell it to someone else.

god is that all hese worried about mine on my oxy acetylene are well over 25 years old and work fine

the ones at work are very old as well. some of the full bottles we have were out of test 10 years+ dread to think how much rental has been on they

Did you sell it as "used" on eBay??

If so, it's his problem, you didn't sell it as new, "sold as seen" is the legal definition, it was up to him to ask...

if its sposed to be tested after 6 years ie: bought 2006 tested 2012, is that supposing that its been in use for 6 years or that it has perishable parts that start to corrode after 6 years even if not used ?

When BOC came in to test/check our gas equipment, the guy said it was the expiry date, even if still in box, when it reaches 2012 it should be discarded.

They have to put a date on to cover themselves with a built-in safety factor so you MAY get away with using it for well past the "sell by" date, see BS post above, 25 years and still OK!
