Last night whilst trying to get the van out of my parking space, I suddenly found I had no throttle - foot to the floor and only just above idle. Also, no engine management light! I have a very basic fault reader - no faults logged! I removed the connector to the throttle position sensor, that brought up a fault light
After some Googling there is supposedly a blue connector in a fuse box cunningly hidden under the expansion bottle (stupid design) that can cause issues. Not in my van.
Low oil pressure can cause issues - oil level was fine.
Leave it until it gets warm, the problem may go away - nope!
20-30 starts and it will work - nope!
This morning, looking over engine again, I happened upon the MAF, disconnected it and the engine stuttered then recovered (if it's like my P38 RR ECU, on error it defaults to a set value to get you home). All of a sudden, it would rev! Reconnected the MAF, only just above idle.
A quick call to my local motor factors, one on the shelf 20 minutes later and £60 poorer - the van is working fine again!
Hope this may help someone else!
Peter
