I've finally got around to doing this after buying the repair kit about 8 years ago, I'm blasting an painting all the engine components before reassembly and the water pump was leaking when I got the tractor. Its Fordson Dexta, there's a separate thread on the general renovation.
I've got most of it apart, just having trouble getting the shaft out of the pulley.
Here's the pump and repair kit before being attacked with a fly press.
I first knocked up a 15mm OD tool for the fly press to push the shaft out if the impeller. This came out relatively easily, its a big old fly press I got from @AdrianH. The previous owner had added a smear of silicone sealant when putting the rubber seal in, you can just see it towards the back of the hole. I don't think that is necessary unless its a bodge to get by.
I then pushed it a bit more to separate the pump housing from the pulley casting
However the shaft is also a push fit into the pulley housing, and turning it around there's no where to push it out, the casting hasn't got a hole in it, that is not the end of the shaft
There's isn't much to bite on to to pull it out, I might have to thread the end of the shaft then put a puller on it.
Surely when they designed these things they thought that somebody may have to repair them, why making it hard or am I missing something? If there's a simple way of getting it out let me know
After working on a few vehicles over the years, I am sure each manufacturer hires a sadist to make sure they are difficult to fix and make sure you skin your knuckles at every opportunity
