repairing helmet headband

the head band on my mask has failed for the 3rd or so time now. its always in the same spot and i have put it down to the super glue i have not being suitable for the material or it could be down to the strength required when the head band is tightened down...

it has failed just behined the mount for the tightening knob just above the left ear...ive tried glue and that holds for a few uses then fails again so either looking for another repair idea or a source for a cheap headband from the UK...i dont want to buy the ones on ebay and wait 6 weeks for it to arrive from whatever part of the world is cheapest at the moment

Without seeing it, I'm guessing your best bet is a strip of fabric (denim) or even a short section of sheet, riveted with eyelets. Stitch a tube of fabric over the repair.

Some plastics (especially polypropylene) do not stick with superglue.

Not an easy repair that one, throw it away in the bin and source new one

A strip of thin ally pop riveted from the inside will do it, I did this as an emergency temporary repair about a year ago, still holding up and in regular use,

that looks far too professional for me to replicate haha...have had a very nice offer form 500e but i may see if i have anything in work on the weekend that might be able to replicate that repair, although i think it may just end up in the bin.

If you're a biker or even if you just know a mate who's a biker, you can pick up a secondhand visor for free. It will just screw into the headband. It should also still flip up and down.

I needed it when I was underneath my rusty old van to keep all the crap out of my eyes but it's also good for high speed wire wheels. When those needles break off they go everywhere. I've had one stuck into my chin as if it was a metal beard.

ive got god knows how many visors laying around, pin locks, tinted ones, iridium ones, have even still got some from helmets ive binned and dont fit any of my current ones...

might have to make one of those up, would come in handy if i buy a disco
