Replacement 3hp compressor pump

One of my compressors died, not investigated why yet. It blew the plug fuse and again when replaced. Started having a look for replacement motors and replacement pumps. The 3hp replacement pumps on eBay are only rated at 250l/min (under 9cfm) with twin 60mm pistons. Anyone know if that is the same fitted to the 14cfm 3hp belt drive compressors being sold? This is one example.

There is also this one that from the pics looks like the same pump fitted to mine but is rated 3kw and has 80mm twin pistons.

Anyone bought a replacement compressor pump for a 3hp 14cfm compressor and if so where did you buy it from?

Are you after a like for like replacement?

I think if the pump on my Sealey died I'd be tempted to swap it over to a cast iron one like my AIE.

have you tried spinning it by hand?

pump could be fine and it's just the motor?

instant fuse blowing screams motor problem to me

unless there's a pump problem which overloaded the motor and killed it, it should be fine

Are you after a like for like replacement?

Good idea but probably like for like to keep things simple and budget friendly.

No not done any diagnostics. Happened on Thursday night in the middle of painting so no time other than replacing the fuse and checking the breakers.

Yes motor is my first suspicion and already found a seller who sells replacements if it is the motor. I am just looking for possible places I can source replacement parts as on holiday now so when I know what it is I can just order what I need.

Worth mentioning I used to have a lot of fuses pop when trying to run my 3HP from a standard plug, especially when it got a bit colder and if it had a half-full tank.

Got to the point where I'd have to empty the receiver so it wouldn't be pumping under any load until it had warmed up.
All solved by sticking it on a 16A commando.

Probably not the case if yours was halfway through a job - but might be worth checking before assuming the worst.
The problem is to get the FAD figures from the pump they tend to really push the pulley size on the motor.

Worth checking all the motor box connections before buying a new motor.
My Magnum compressor has died a few times in its 35 year history and it has always turned out to be wiring or capacitor issues. Usually wiring.
The vibration and thermal load works the terminal connections hard.
