Ok so this has nothing to do with stabilising (yet). I am resawing some plum cherry and it's going very well with my lovely new blade.
First I just ripped it down along a check running the length of the piece.
Then cobble together a fence guide.
Damn but there's some lovely wood insid there.
Finely sliced...
More lovely grain...
These are about 15mm maybe 3/4" so stacked up and put away outside under cover and I'll bring them indoors in a few days. Currently they're still circa 20% moisture because I let the rain get at this batch.
The I finally reached the really super lovely stuff, a complex knot, deep pink almost purple...
...and the brand new blade expired! Refused to cut any more and it didn't slow down the cut, one minute it was fine, next it simply won't cut (not a resaw anyway).
Can someone recommend a good quality tipped (ideally carbide but lets keep the price real) or speciality resawing 1 to 3 tpi, Bi-metal blade supplier?? This plum cherry lumber is especially nice so worth spending a few quid on blades but at £15 a pop, I can't go through them at this rate. That blade only cut two or tree of the smaller pieces. I have plenty more to do and a ton of walnut!
