Reset motor to often

Hi again everyone I am now using a Clarke SE16c 100 litre and the motor has started failing press the reset button at the back of the motor and it starts up and runs normally for a day or so then does it again where should I start looking for problems? many thanks Chris

I had the same problem ages ago on a Clarke but the motor never got hot it just kept throwing the reset so I just bypassed it and its run like this fir for over 6 years now am not saying you do the same just stating it could just be a reset button fault try a new one

You can replace the reset button and if you find a broken motor you can nab it, they do deteriorate with age or constant tripping.

borrow a clamp ammeter if u can and clock the current draw. it will tell u what the problem is

Does it throw the cut out on starting or during a run?

If it does it on start up it is pulling to much current, so look at a mechanical issue.

If during a run, check as @brightspark the current draw as well as voltage.

If that all checks out the springs have worn in the switch.

It is very difficult to tell exactly when it is doing it because you do not realise it is not normal pressure cut out or it may be it is doing when it should restart but after pressing reset it runs fine for a while even restarting Chris
