respirator

I got one of these today http://www.mscdirect.co.uk/CHA-30002C/SEARCH:CATEGORY/product.html but I find that when the helmet is down it keeps hitting the front of the respirator, and it leaves a gap around the helmet at the sides and I get flashing from the arc inside the the mask.

is there a way around this, or is it just the way I am wearing it (never used one before for welding

also which is the correct filter to have?

I'd take it back if i were you.

90% of welders in industry use air fed masks, i.e a welding screen with facility to blow filtered air inside to push out any fume. Filter unit on a belt similar to the set up you have. Usually with a face seal of some form.
There are some smaller masks that may fit under a screen a bit better, but imo the air fed units are the best...saves your face getting all sweaty under there stuck inside some smelly rubber jobbie.
