Retractable Castors/casters?

I have a couple of the Axminster mobile bases and want to use this idea of retractable castors on some of my other machinery. I can't see any source in the UK for these. Anyone have any idea where these can be got? Not too hard to fabricate, I suppose.

Axminster bases are good buy but expensive when you are planning to put everything up to move about the workshop. Also, I would prefer that the machines are more firmly attached to the castors than they are on this kind of base.

Quarter way down - retractable caster mounting. Uses a screw and is inside the fly press stand, but I can see possibilities.

i find that for most things locking castors are enough....

Good ole Norm on " Yankee workshop " sky TV plays in wood but he did show a very simple way of having castors on an over centering bar at each end of his work bench ...OK he is able to unlock the catch and lift the table for the overcentre arm to fall and be moved out side the legs .

But I see no reason why it cound not be done for a heavy bench , you would just need a bottle jack in the inside of the bench cross member to lift the bench enough to release the arm , swing it out and lock in place then do the same at the other end.

Locking wheels would be advantageous.

Locking castors wouldn't be so good on, for example, a heavy lathe - too much vibration would have the machine moving about the workshop I fear.
