Reusable Grit for Cabinet Blasting

The grit in my Guyson cabinet blaster is at least 10 years old - ok it isn't by any means used very often, but as it's also running low I need to get some more.

But what .... ?

Aluminium Oxide seems popular, chilled iron comes with good performance. Anyone any recommendations? Any sources ?

I have a ton of crushed glass for my 'outside' Hodge-Clemco blaster - tempting to use some of that but I understand it will create loads of dust and not last very long at all.

Just use the glass once and then put it back in the bag to use outside later.

Chilled iron is brilliant and can be used 100s of times, but it rusts VERY easily. You need really dry air and don't leave it in the cabinet, it's best kept in sealed containers.

I've been trying to identify what I currently have in the cabinet. I got it from Guysons over ten years ago. I've just done a quick density experiment weighing 100 cc s of crushed glass and 100 cc s of the current media - both bone dry. The current media is well over twice as dense as the glass. However it's in the past not been kept in the driest state (shed at the bottom of the garden at my last place) and there is no sign of it rusting so I presume it is not chilled iron. I believe chilled iron cakes with even the slightest moisture as RTBCOMP says above.

Anyone know the densities of various types of media?

If it sticks to a magnet then it's chilled iron.

I use aluminium oxide. 20kg from machine mart is about 40 quid. Lasts me a year.
