Here was a little job i just finished to use on my SBL when i make plumb bobs. Now i can hold the tail of the bob while i work on the body. Its just a #2MT shaft turned with a boss to hold a 608Z ball bearing...Bob

You're a rum bloke Bob. I don't know what I'm more amazed at, someone still using a plumb bob, or someone making them.

and, just as I was going to press the submit button a use has come to mind.

A fixed one in the head, this in the t/stock. perfect for holding radiusd (sp)

handles, while turning the taper down in the middle

I have been selling some plumb bobs on ebay. There are about a million different styles. I still use one everyday as a pipe welder to get centerlines of 16" and 20" pipe. Yup your idea will work for the handles...Bob
