Can anyone recommend a decent hand pop rivet gun, my bluepoint one has started not gripping the shafts.
Also could do with another one with a narrow long end to it if available.

In my experience if the part you are riveting doesn't matter then lazy tongs are fine, but its so easy to do damage when they 'pop'
Long arm riveters are much better as you can pull them away whilst squeezing the handles together. Much easier to use as well.

I've got to reiterate this. They are just so easy, and, because you're not putting in work yourself, you don't get fatigued, and can pay better attention to what you're actually doing.

Try using a battery Gesipa one...makes putting them in a pleasure!

The air ones are brilliant, if it's the same one I think Lidl had, it's a fairly generic model, pretty much the same as the Clarke, so should be decent enough for normal use. I have the Clarke one, can't fault mine, had to clean the piston seal / recharge the oil when I got it, and it's been fine since.

Lazy tongs are alright if you can get in about with them..

I don't fit enough rivets to need a battery or air one and we have a lazy tong one at work but it lacks finese in use.Normal hand one is fine for me, just need a decent make , was myself thing of eclipse so as someone else has recommended I will get one of those.

ive just looked up the cost of my air one, off ebay - £27

if you have a compressor, and youre looking to buy a manual unit, the cost really wont be that much different, i suspect.

Cost dosen't really come into it.Quality before cost as it will be used for work though infrequently.Air ones always look to big and bulky to me.I do car upholstery so need something that won't slip and damage painted or covered parts.

I like it but it doesn't feel like it is worth nearly £40 but it has a 5 year warranty, Beta have a similar one if not the same for less money.

I wanted either a Scandinavian or German or English make. ​

I found that there's a lot of badge engineering with riveters, an Eclipse looked like a lesser quality make (forget the name) and a Bahco one looked the same as a Draper.....

Don't get the facom one,

Far too expensive and wears the threads out quickly meaning that without drilling through it and adding a nut and bolt it's useless.

The customer service didn't seem interested in doing anything for the Warrenty for me when I tried. (Was only 18months old when broke)

But the bolt has lasted nearly 5 years lol

We use those and the rivnut versions on the production lines at work, bet they're not cheap though.

These are awesome. Never used a rivet gun that takes as little force as this. Going at least 15 years now without an issue

I love blind or pop rivets. What a wonderful British invention!
I have set more than my fair share.
Air is by far and away the fastest and easiest. I will be using about 600 6.4mm rivets in my new trailer.
I also have one of these.

Very useful for larger stronger rivets.

Rebuilding the mast on my boat a few years back i needed to set some 6mm monel rivets, only the one job so i bought a silverline lazy tongs riveter.... it set just one 3mm rivet before the jaws disintegrated. Enraged i threw it in the creek.
I have learned from this!

Ask your local Snap On/Bluepoint rep but I am sure you used to be able to get replacement collet kits for their ones.

A mate did one about 10 years ago.

Might not be much cheaper than a new one though.
