road compressor useage

Hi guys, hope one of you can help me. I have started changing cutting edges on loading shovels from time to time at work. I use a 1" us pro impact gun which is fed from a 90 litre mains compressor, you might get one nut undone before the compressor is panting on the floor ( I inherited this inadequate setup from the previous fitter)
it can take up to 30 minutes to do this simple job. My question is, would an atlas copco road compressor be ok to use ? Could I run the gun direct from the air outlet on the compressor or would I need air reducers on it ?

they generaly run at about 90 psi so thats about right for air tools just put a few drops of oil in your tool before use to keep it lubricated

road compressor is an essential workshop tool IMO,

i use an ingersol rand pw130 for the workshop, in the one corner of the case where there was some spare room i made a cubby hole and the 1" CP air gun lives in there. i just put C fittings on it as it was a waste of time putting it on the single phase compressor, even undoing a single bolt the single phase compressor needs a time out to catch back up

may also find yourself buying some 3/4 one way valves i screwed one into the end of my workshop air tank and have a 3/4 airline permantly attached running out the road compressor and if i ever get ****** off waiting for air just turn the key and all the air chould ever want ( did end up tweeking the control valve to up the pressure a bit )

im simlar one end of my large compressor tank has a ball valve and a c coupling on it /. it can be filled off the mobile comp or i can use its outlet with a long 3/4 hose with adaptors on the end

can be quite amusing having a road compressor supplemented air supply, last year doing had a load of mates in the workshop repairing one of there rally cars and a guy who really should of known better asked what the hell had i done to the 3 hp sip compressor other than add a massive tank to get so much air out of it, ( about 3 sanders and other air tools running at same time most of the time )

left it a few hours before pointing out the big yellow diesel thing to him

My road compressor sits outside the workshop with a 3/4" hose permanently connected, with a lever ball valve isolating it from the rest of my air distribution system. When running the blasting cabinet for small stuff my Hydrovane 'almost' keeps up and I have to pause every now and again. Start up the road compressor and I can blast all day uninterrupted.

A friend of mine used to run a mobile blasting setup and loads of other tools from an ex gas board van with a built in copco compressor system, it worked really well and you had somewhere to mash tea and a built in single and 3 phase generator.
