Rod oven

Hi picked this up today was advertised as a rod oven I’ve never used one before or seen one like this I can fit about 10 rods inside in a bunch is that ok after they have been inside for 5 minutes you can just about hold them in your hand very hot
How long should I leave rods in it
Any advice is greatly appreciated

If you can only put the rods in through the circular orifice then what it looks like you have is an induction oven for heating metal for heat treatment or the like. Rod ovens have a fully opening front, not dissimilar to your domestic oven.

Doesnt look like a Rod Oven.......they usually resemble a domestic oven....it looks like a tube furnace......you can bung the ends and create an atmosphere inside, oxidising or reducing or inert by passing the gas through the tube.....often used for experiments.....or sometimes used to determine Carbon contents in steel

I think you may be right tube furnace
But could I use it for drying rods as put it on for 10 minutes earlier and turned off and an hour later it was still really hot

I suppose so.......assuming theres a temp controller and you can set it from about 110 oC - 400 oC

It looks like a home made piece of kit, The one we had at college was Three ovens stacked, all temperature controlled, with different temperatures for different Electrodes ,the ovens were as TechnicalAl says similar to domestic ovens. Great care was taken to use them properly , some students thought to just warm them up a bit was OK but it does'nt work like that . All the Best. desmo11225
