Rods too thin?

I am getting low on 3mm brazing rods.
I dimly remember a drawing i ons of those old handyman books of some old boy twisting thin gas welding rods together to make a larger one. Like hell I thought.
I have two tubes of 1.2mm brazing rods doing nothing. stick two in the vice, pop the other ends in the chuck of my cordless drill. And hell it works.

Could also be used for jewelry as well. It is quite hard picking up short the end of the last rod with the new one, but it works as well, so no waste.

I use exactly the same method to make stainless 309 tig welding rods from a roll of mig wire, Trick is to choose the amount of strands, nip one end in the vise, other end in the cordless drill and away you go, I do around 20 feet at a time, Keep pulling quite hard as the drill spins to ensure the wire forms a nice straight rod. then just a matter of cutting to the lengths you need.

I tried with 968 mig wire and find it springs apart, when you least want it to.

graffian, sounds to me that you did not twist it anywhere near enough, It needs to be twisted a lot more than in Chunko's brass example.
