Well it would seem that curiosity got the better of me and I ended up taking the plunge on a suspiciously cheap AC/DC tig welder, namely a ROHR WSME200 for £379. I gather they're sold under lots of different brands and are basically all just different logos on the same chinese model. I haven't seen a teardown of one yet though, so I thought it'd be rude not to take mine apart for a look inside

I've got mixed impressions on it myself, I've no major qualms with the design, looks okay with copper bus bars, decent cooling layout etc, however I have come to the conclusion that whoever assembled it was on crack, it had a few loose screws inside and one connector was just unplugged. It all works fine after giving it once over though so going to keep using it and will update if anything happens. Also should note the bend to the upper support, guessing it was dropped at some point during assembly or shipping.
Gas-wise it seems fine, no leaks anywhere as far as I can tell and the gauge has stayed the same on my regulator overnight after turning off the bottle.
Looks very similar to the Jasic 200P AC/DC analog IMO, would be interested to see one of them taken apart too.
I'm going to make a foot pedal for it too soon after seeing how expensive they are new, so if anyone else is interested I can order in more parts and do a small run of them.
