Rotring airbrush compressor problems

I’ve owned a lovely 1990 Rotring compressor for a number of years for the odd bit airbrushing (utterly under used). For the last 2 years it been used about four times, and everything worked well.

I went to use it last week, and discovered that the compressor won’t switch off when top pressure is reached.

I decided to look for a replacement switchy thing, and got in touch with a German company. The lovely chaps did their best to find the parts, but my model design was replaced in 1991, and no guarantee if I bought the parts, they would work.

Does anyone have any ideas how to fix it? I could cut out the original switching bit, and fit a ‘proper’ compressor switch, but not too sure how easy that would be.

Any help appreciated, and a bag of jelly babies standing by for the lucky winner.

Might be worth replacing it if you envisage using it more? Or searching for parts to fit more modern ones might source a part which could be made to fit.....

For a part to fit a more modern (but same shape) model, it would be €70+ euros for the full unit. I have seen similar compressors with the parts in your link, and it does look fairly easy to remove the old unit, and fit the one in your link.

€70+ for similar, maybe, unit, or £10 for standard compressor switch. Mmmm.......
