Hi i'm looking for assistance with companies who sell round bar, sheet metal with great offers this includes quality & cost.

Does anyone know firms which sell 6mm round bar, 5mm, 8mm & 16mm including sheet metal 1mm diameter 1.2, 1.5 & 2mm

I'm looking to buy potentially in bulk

Pretty much any steel stockholder, yell.com steel stockholders near Leicester. The forum has a section on DIY friendly stockists too as a stockholders idea of bulk is MANY tonnes (while they'll happily sell one sheet/one length of bar some can be a bit short if/when someone with a tiny order doesn't really know what they want etc)

All stockholders deal with round bar and sheet.

I don't think 5mm is a standard size - not sure, but you might have to call a lot of places to find it.

I would avoid words like 'bulk' or 'large quantity' if you start phoning stockholders. I'm pretty sure you're not in a position to be negotiating significant discounts based on volume - you'll end up talking apples and oranges with them if you go in saying that.

Sheet metal doesn't have a diameter.

Just google steel stockholders in your area or use the list on this forum.

Hi welder Paul,

i'm looking for say 50 6mm round bar which cost me usually about £1.16 per bar but the more I buy the cheaper I get them. they are usually 3metres long

Do you think this sounds expensive

I'm also looking for 50 5mm round bar & these usually cost about the same, I need to shop around.

Also I usually pay about £25.00 inc vat for 2meter x 1meter sheet metal @ 1.2mm thickness

I get 6mm bar from my supplier at about £2 inc vat for a 6m length.

Sheet material Is around the £25-£40 for an 8' x 4' sheet dependent on thickness from about 1mm to about 3mm.

Dont have the price list to hand at the mo to be exact.

Your prices dont seem too bad to be honest.

Would you mind sending me a price list as my sheet metal is usually 2 metre x 1 metre 1mm thick costing £25 + vat m/s

Tomorrow i have bought 3mm 2 metre x 1 metre = £88 +vat for 2 sheets m/s

Am i able to get it cheaper?
