Made a rudimentary readout which works better than it looks (not saying a lot granted).
Removable to allow face plate fitment.
Covers a few inches of travel at the headstock end of the lathe.
The depth end of a cheap digital vernier caliper hitting a bolted angle (turns either way). The caliper is affixed to a piece of angle bolted to the apron. The apron is shaped; so the angle piece is set to be square (at least enough) with a screw through a tapped hole in the angle. Heath Robinson.
Yes I can read upside down (at least easier than those old dials!)
