Hi, I'm new here. Doing some body work on the car, and have come across some thin surface rust in a box section. Its nothing to worry about but while I've got easy access I'd like to neutralise/remove it and prime the resulting bare metal. I'll probably then squirt some Dynax s50 in after I've finished work.
Access is limited, can't get a grinder in, so limited really to chemicals or a lot of elbow grease and a tooth brush type wire brush!
I was thinking about something like the POR15 prep & ready, but its very expensive and leaves a coating - could I use some zinc primer over this?
I then thought about a dilute solution of phosphoric acid but a bit wary about squirting this into hard to access areas where it will find its way into spot welded flanges etc. Removing the part from the car is not an option!
Any ideas, is there a standard way to this? Maybe I'm over complicating it and should just blast some dynax in when I'm done welding.
