safety valve

Hi again everyone I have twin pumps and twin motors on my compressor and all has been going fine until this morning I switched the compressor on as usual and walked away from it and not taking a lot of notice until suddenly the safety valve went off and the only thing I can think of that would cause this is the on and off power switch not cutting out at the required pressure having 2 of everything I ran it up on the other pump and everything was fine can anyone confirm this as being the problem or point me in the direction of what else to check thanks everyone Chris

Yes, sounds like the pressure switch is stuck or needs to be adjusted.

I tend not to thinking it is stuck as that pump and motor have run fine up until now but I suppose it is the oldest piece of equipment on the compressor apart from the receiver would you think I should get one and give it a go or is there anything else I should look at thanks Chris

Have you tried adjusting it?

I find they tend to change over time. They are not hard to replace except you need to find one with the correct fittings.

Hello Chris,

just check your cut out pressures on the control switches and also monitor the safety valve. I would imagine the safety should blow off at the safe working pressure and the compressor switches cut out a couple of bar below that.
