I've just got hold of a torch for my mma inverter to use as a bit of a backup incase of any probs with my other tig set. And also to have a bit of a mess about.
Starting the arc is fine.... but what are you supposed to do at the end of the weld ? The inverter just wants to keep the arc going.
What i have been doing is whiping the torch away pretty sharpish to break the arc, then putting it straight back over the end of the weld for a bit of post gas. Does this sound about the right way to go about it ?
A couple of pics.....
The set up i'm using
The massive crater in the bottom left hand weld is where i touched down when putting the torch back over it .
