Sealey Electronic Ear Defenders

Hi all,

I am new to this forum so I am not very familiar with the forum setting. I hope this is the right forum to post this. I found the forum through Google.

I have just bought the Sealey SSP18E Electronic Ear Defenders and they come with batteries but I am not so sure what batteries do. They're electronic so I am assuming they do help in the noise reduction. What do they do?

i have a pair like these , what happens is when switched on they use a microphone so you can still hear people talking and whatnot while wearing them but as soon as you start working above certain decibel it turns the microphone off and you hear nothing .

i think they should turn on and off depending on noise level so you can talk normal when not makeing a din. or they filter out the bad noise and not speach so you can talk while makeing a din

I have a pair for shooting. Screens out certain noises/frequencies.
Can hear someone next to you speaking very clearly, but muffles the sound of the gun.
I don't profess to know how they work.

They are just ordinary ear defenders with a filtering amplifier that selectively passes voice level frequencies so you can communicate while protecting your hearing. I have a pair and don't get on with them, but you may like them. These do NOT have active sound cancelling like you get for target shooting and light aircraft; those are MUCH more expensive.
