Sealey lid not working.

Hey guys,

I've had a sealey clear vision lid for a few years but it's had very minimal use.
My dad dusted it off a couple of weeks ago and gave it a go, said it worked fine.
Took it along to a mig demonstration evening the other night and it wouldn't work.
I've just finally found the chance to give my welder a go they I brought a few weeks ago, and the visor is definitely not doing anything.

I've tried fiddling with the knob on the side the the switches inside, but no difference.

Is it dead or is there something else I could check?
I was looking to buy another anyway, a more expensive decent one. By would like this to work so I can let the other half have a go.

If its been is store for a while the battery is most likely flat, try leaving it outside with the solar panel facing the sky for a day, it may just recover enough to be able to use it, then hopefully the arc will charge it.

It should have a battery that charges with solar power. Some are replaceable some are not. If it's not you might need to find its location and dremel away the plastic and fit a new one.

same thing happened with my lid

i thought they all had batteries how would they auto darken from the off otherwise

Otherwise will look at taking it to bits.

if your really stuck you can get a cheap auto helmet from evil bay for under £20.

Thanks yea, my dads just got one of them, I wasn't too impressed with it, but one of them for 'her' will probably do and a nice decent one for proper work.

Here you go, this is an esab one, the batteries can be seen at the top corners, you will need to perform surgery on it to get inside though.

Glass reduces UV a lot so in the window may not help

A young lad I know bought a sealey lid lasted about 6 weeks of 3/days a week at college before it broke. Get something g decent like a sif, esab, Rtech
