I recently purchased the welder from S410MAN, and I can only apologise to him for the run around the couriers have given not only him, but both of us.
They picked up the welder two days late, without any prior warning which they had promised. They also collected it with a pallet which quite honestly fell apart for firewood when it eventually arrived at my door almost a week later. I'd originally paid for a collection on the Thursday, which would have meant delivery on the Monday, but an entire week later, luckily when the Mrs was at home, it arrived. They offered to remove it from the pallet, but I've taught the Mrs to leave well alone
Anyway, as described in the advert, the torch was in a bad way, so bad that really it was only worth removing out of a sign of respect. It also looked like S410MAN had made an attempt at swapping out the hardwired torch for a euro conversion, the gas solenoid was bolted inside the case, but that looks about it.
I've stripped everything out of the case and had 95% of it shotblasted down the road by Scunthorpe Powder Coating, which to be honest wasn't the best job I'd seen so doubt I'll be using them again in the future. They'd missed little areas of paint and rust pitting, not sure if it make a difference but it was handblasted with Aluminium Oxide. They had given it a quick coat of something which reacted terribly with the paint I'd got planned, so I had to give the panels a coat of Zinc Primer, which sorted any issues out.
The top coat is Aldi specials, Flame Red and Black, unthinned, rollered on in about 5 coats, I sped the drying process up with my gas burner, effectively turning the workshop in to a massive oven. The finish I am happy with!
I've also tidied the wiring up a little, replacing the fan with something a little beefier, a PAPST 240v 120mm fan, as used in a number of moving light fixtures in the entertainment industry and I've been pleased with them before. Not to mention I had two doing nothing, so it was a no brainer really.
Anyway, I've yet to purchase the Euro Torch kit, but I've been in touch with Les at TecArc about a couple of bits, so once I've got some more cleared funds from my eBay selling spree's, I shall be purchasing from TecArc no doubt.
Pictures attached, before, during and after. Also parts lists and wiring diagrams from Sealey should anyone else require them.
