Sealey Tools

Quick question guys.

Are Sealey tools actually any good?

I've just started a new job and can get most stuff on a staff price at cost+10%. And if the sealey kit is any good, I might have to start buying a few more bits and pieces.

Unfortunately I can't sell on otherwise I'm sure I'd end up with one hell of a shopping list!!

Sealey are like many tool type companies, in that they are nothing more than a wholesaler, selling products made by other companies, including stuff that is made in china. The main difference between them and other wholesalers is, they get there name put on the product.

I have found most of the spanners and sockets in the sealey premier range is quite reasonable stuff. There cheap stuff is as rubbish as most, power tools arent up to that much, there air tools are OK. They are also normally ok for spare parts to there equipement as well

With Sealey & most others these days you have to pick and choose (or ask here) about specific items.

Remember you only get what you pay for;

The Sealey "Siegen" range IMO is junk as are most of their lead lights/lamps, trolley jacks, toolboxes and the so called toolkit deals O and roadstart booster packs should also be avoided.

(I can say this cause I have been an tool dealer for years)

I agree with Darren, the low end sealey stuff is absolute rubbish, I bought a set of their welding clamps and they fell apart the instant I used them! Their Premier stuff looks nice though but I've never used any. The same can be said for Clarke and clarke pro and Draper and their "expert" range. You have to pay the money if you want stuff to last and I know that from experience .

I bought a Sealey SSG1 spray gun it worked for 2minutes then stopped, I cleaned it out with thinners now the spray pattern just pulses, I emailed Sealey technical help, they told me to contact PVR who I bought it off, not exactly technocal help then is it!!!

Personally I think it's horses for courses.

If you're a home DIY-er only using the tools occassionally then Sealey stuff is probably fine, however if you're a pro using the tools all day every day then they'll probably have a life expectancy of a mayfly.

All our workshop guys still swear by Sanp-On, silly prices but built to last, for me (a DIY-er) Halfords Pro is a pretty good compromise

I don't think its horses for courses. Unfortunately with all the crap tools that flood the market nowadays (i.e. almost everything), it is just as annoying as a DIY user to have something fail on its first usage as when you're using it for work.

Most tools don't stand up to diy use, let alone industrial use. Sealey are in this category.
