Seam Sealers - Anybody used this?

Hi,

I read on here somewhere that PU sealer is the best stuff to use to seal the seams and brush on stuff comes second best.

So i started looking and i found this stuff:

Has anyone here used it? and is it any good?

Any other suggestions for sealers welcome, i need it to be super water tight. I think PU sealer is my favourite right now, unless someone tells me otherwise.

Isn't tiger seal just a branded PU sealant? Or is there something extra being tiger?

I wanted to have a look at worth products too.

PU keeps the sea out of your sailing boat where the cast iron or lead keel bolts to the hull moulding. Good enough for me. Sikaflex the brand leader, lots of choices- ie. just sealer, adhesive sealer etc.

i think as long as a good brand is used it would be OK. i saw some in the pound shop today, not sure i would put that on my pride and joy lol!

Forgot to say for best possible job there is also a Sikaflex primer to use before sealing.

You haven't actually said what you want to seal and that link says it is for Porous surfaces and mentions everything apart from steel. Are you talking about a wood boat?

Good point, sealant in wooden boat joints is a very specific area. Must use primer and in some cases (deck planking), a bead breaker tape.

hahaha! sorry my bad. I am doing some welding and introducing new seams (mild steel). So i wanted to seal those seams to prevent water ingress. Not a boat no

Just bought 4 tubes of that, I was using Sikaflex before but it goes off too quickly in the tube which makes it too expensive, at this price it doesn't matter.

i have a couple of tubes in the garage sill it does go off quicker than say silicon but like u said its cheaper than tiger seal, i have drilled the top of half used tubes before in emergencies or is it i am just tight or hate waste

You should stick a long bolt in it and wrap the end in cling film so it's air tight. I have got away with using grip fill like that after a month or so

No not bad welding, but I am introducing new seams that were not there before. You can't see the back of the plate but it stops about an inch up. I want to seal these sort of seams as they would be prime suspects for water ingress. I will be plug welding it unless I can get the mig right in there.
