See through tig shroud

I think that I mentioned this quite a while ago, But here are the pic's, I recently shared this with another member but thought others may be interested, WP9 tig torch adapted to take a clear/Pyrex shroud,Just required a heat resisting viton 'o' ring and a replacement tank from a vape cigarette, Both available from ebay, It turned out well.

I quite like those. I have a few of those WP9/20 gas lenses adapted with a Viton O-ring like yours, I also have tried the CK gas saver lenses which are a slightly bigger diameter, and the super size Furick cups for wide coverage.

Personally I don't care for them too much, for my general purpose work I don't get any benefit, and they're too expensive to use/abuse.

Really nice to use as a "treat" though, or in position in tight corners.

You have to be careful not to knock the glass/pyrex cups, I've broken a couple of them.

Boro tubes are £5 for 500mm and its pretty easy to cut

A friend of mine was a glass blower by trade making all sorts of laboratory equipment, Pyrex/Boro tubing can be bought in a great number of sizes, And for anybody that could be bothered can be heated with a gas torch and formed into whatever shape you want,
These novelty glass animals were something he made as a side line, These are over forty years old, Made using soda glass. Virtually any coloured glass bottle can be broken, heated and pulled to make glass rods for making these novelties etc. I managed to make the rods for him but the skill and dexterity to form the items was far beyond me,

I'd wondered about trying that after finding a vape tube in the worskshop at school, left there by one of the kids no doubt!

Thread O/D .544"
.466" Dia behind the thread, where the "O' ring sits
.100" "O' ring section, I believe heat resisting Viton
.430 "O" I/D
.608 Pyrex I/D
.875" Pyrex length.

Pyrex fit over "o" ring nice and tight, I use a touch of silicon grease on the ring,
Convert the sizes to metric they might make more sense, It was a long time ago when I bought them.
