You certainly can carry a knife, whenever you have good reason to do so. When it comes down to it why might you carry one otherwise?

You can if it's needed, stalker requires a knife. I carry an orange mora knife on my belt, it has been in full view of the police and they don't bother me. Middle of Glasgow it may cause a problem, think the colour orange might upset a few folk!

Sorry, I didn't express myself fully. When the legislation was introduced I checked with the Police because I used to use and carry one at, and to and from work.

They said if I finished work with the knife in my pocket and went straight home [and left it there, obviously] I'd be OK, but if I stopped on the way e.g. for a pint, I could be charged. Never took the chance after that.

I thought a sub 3inch cutting edge and non-locking folder could be carried anywhere? What other premises does the law cover?

They still can after passing a safety test. The knives are only allowed to be used within a safety taped off area and have to be kept in a box between times by the supervisor / leader.

5mm x50 mm 01 tool. It's OK but not my favourite as it tempers funny. Sort of holds out then all of a sudden the colours seem to shoot through and it has to go into a water quench like lightning. The full taper shown is definitely easier than a scandi to time in that regard

Heck a builder got charged and convicted when the polis stopped him and searched the van, found a stanley in the glovebox and charged him with possession of an offensive weapon without lawful cause (or words to that effect) - had finished work and was going to do a quote or something
Law in Scotland is pretty much, take bladed tools in locked container to job, finish job, return locked container home
Its stupid but thats the way the law is worded and some cops are just itching for a quick nick...

I never knew any of that - I've had a Stanley knife in the door pocket of my van for the last few years. It's the only way I can find it when I need it. In think I will move it over to the passenger's side door pocket, you can't get into that without getting out and opening the door.

Ah, that little fella ain't for sale. Not a good head or anything just a run of the mill roe buck I shot many moons ago with a story behind it
