I own a LDV Convoy, therefore i need a welder, its quite simple, they rust.....


I did welding 35 years ago, a very short course, too short!

Do I buy a stick welder or a Mig (with or without gas)

Budget is low........low..........low.....

Hehe, welcome again Steve!
Mig over stick any day for automotive repairs, it's just so much more practical.
Realistically you need a machine of around 150A, that will give you enough grunt for any chassis repairs you may encounter.
The problem with very cheap welders is that they're built down to a price so things like the wire feed mechanism take a hit quality-wise.
Have a good look through the 'welders and welding machines' section and you'll get the gist of what brands to look for and what to avoid.

welcome to the forum steve, good solid name there! keep an eye on the for sale section as there are some cheap welders from time to time and as wozzah mentioned above, the only silly questions are the ones you didnt ask
