shhh 2/9 leaking air and oil

The compressor was working fine one day. The following day, air (mixed with some oil) started leaking from a small hole. The hole is at the top of a gold/bronze coloured valve(?). This valve (if that is what it is!) is attached to the machine with a small grub screw - photograph attached. Not sure if the machine was knocked and something useful fell off or if it has just failed. I'm hoping that some of you knowledgeable people will know what's going on!

That brass device is the unloading valve.

It's difficult to tell from the picture, but is there a plastic pipe attached to the bottom of it?

If so and air leaks when the switch on top of the plastic box is set "off" the non return valve (NRV) has probably failed. The NRV will be screwed into the tank and has the output pipe from the pump connected to it.

Thanks. ..Uploader valve! Trying to identify that for weeks.

Air leaks out when I switch on. Can't build up any pressure in the tank at all.

And yes, there is a black plastic pipe connected to the bottom of the valve.

Sound like the unloader itself is faulty, or the bit in the switch that operates it is u/s.

Disconnect from the mains, take the top off the pressure switch and have look to see if anything has broken off.
