Bought this on a whim - price was right so seemed rude not too;



It's a 06258 model, but seemily like most folks, am having difficulty locating a user manual on-line.

I now know how to switch it on and off; I know how to drain it; Heck , i even know that you can twiddle the litttle red knob to 'do something' - What I don't know, but feel I should, is:
How do I know which size connector I need for this part ->



Yet another question in my expertise of dumbness.
The above pic shows one outlet which is regulated - so what is this outlet for on the tank? -->



Should I just start afresh and renew both the couplers & connectors of the same type?

98% sure both fittings are the same - they are female "Euro style" couplings, you'll need Euro style male couplings to fit.

The middle top one is regulated, so you can dial in a reduced pressure to supply tools etc. The one off the side of the tank will always give you whatever pressure is in the reciever, likely to be between 8-10 Bar Max. A little less useful if you're not going to put a regulator elsewhere in the system. Be careful with that one too, particularly if you move the machine about or it's where you can brush up against it - it won't take much to snap it off and that'll have slightly scary results if it's pressurised at the time. A 90 degree elbow would help.

All my SIP air tools and small cheapy compressor had those same fittings, I think they're okay. The typical alternative are PCL, but I think they pose more resistance to flow (can't say for sure - I've never had any myself)

yup UNI or euro connector (same fitting) scerwfix do them quite cheap IIRC

better airflow than pcl

I've been using them (light hobby use) for years, I've got two air hoses with male/female ends and the compressor has a female end on it, which I've sinced moved off that onto a bigger 3hp machine I've bought recently.

They work really well, although one of the female couplers has developed a habit of sometimes not sealing off when a male end is removed from it, perhaps due a new one, or just move the slide ring and it sorts itself out.

I'm going to be buying a load more soon, need to sort my air distribution out - and I'll be buying some normal (not coiled) air hoses and a load of male-female couplers. They seem to be available cheaply in multi-packs on the 'bay for around £5-10.

Nice one. Small cheapy compressor was a 1.5HP ABAC on a 24 litre - I'm up to a direct drive (so slightly envious of your belt drive) 3hp V-twin on a 50 litre tank, I think it's fair to describe these as medium!

Don't forget you can easily change the fittings on air tools/your compressor, so don't not purchase something just because it has the 'other' type. Some hoses can't though, as the ends will be barbed on or crimped.

There are lots of postings on this site that refer to the poor air flow through built-in regulators. One solution is to add a second direct outlet, in place of the tank bung. This provides a good flow for high-consumption tools, such as impact guns. See: http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=18442&page=3

Eddie, that has just made me realise that I have put no thought into what tools I want to use with this thing: I have a bought a cheap HVLP gun to use, although I already have an Earlex 'hoover' to lay primer - I have a cordless high impact gun, I have a 'lecy DA, not sure if this thing will see any action at all!!

Ah well, think I'll have browse and buy a few gubbins for it and see how we go.....

It also gives the neighbours just cause to call in the looney catchers if they see me pumping my tyres up in the am then sneeking out at dusk to de-flate them again....

I'm more akin to using it to scare the be-jesus out of the big tom cat that uses the veggie patch as his own private loo: I'm thinking a lenght of perforated hose threaded through the cabbages, and BOOM - just as the F'er swatts

But to invert the best tom cat scarer i will need some bits ----

I notice that the manual you supplied mentions torqueing down the head at determined times, but it makes no mention of the figure - Would you happen to have this information available to you? Thanks.
