Just got my 16mm Cable installed from the house to the garage, thought id put up some pictures of the electric instalation in my garage, would be itrested if others could post up their electric supzply to let me see







have 2 ring mains, one with 3 double sockets and the other with 4 double sockets, a 16A 230 socket and a 32A 230 socket and more light than you can shake a stick at

Looks like you have managed to do the 32A socket by wireless, that must be a first.

Then connected with chocolate blocks into a 6 way multi block I bet with 32amp breaker?

The 32 cable runs behind the board if you look to the right u can see a wee bit of the recess for it

I could show you pics of mine, but it's all stacked up in the living room waiting to be installed.

I have two lengths of 10mm swa (it was free). So I'm going to run the both in to two separate MCB's - again freebies. One for the ring main, lighting, compressor etc, and one for the welder.

Seems over the top, but I may as well do so at least I don't have to worry about if I upgrade the welder.

Good stuff, the metal socket and boxes are good bits of kit, bit pricey for me, would need 7 doubles

Mine

Garage and a bit of where the Lathe is etc. The garage is fed with Armour from the Shed and is protected with an RCB in the shed.All Metal trunking and metal sockets etc.
The 12` X 8` Garden shed is a bit more chaos and only has lights and a few sockets. Mcb and RCD. The whole lot fed from the domestic consumer unit and protected with an MCB
Lathe area much the same with RCD and MCB.
All areas are knocked off with the main switch whenever the area is not in use.--Just me!!! playing double safe

Them boxes are about 25 years old, and still as good as the day I fitted em :-)

I'm sure these will get a few remarks from the safety police but this is what our workshop runs on:

Yep - all on old fashioned fuses. Not long ago I had an electrician to put in a 32amp supply for the welder and asked him to replace the old fuse box for something more up to date - he said don't bother fuses are less fussy about inrush currents and it's all protected with a 40amp motor rated RCD the other end anyway. The armoured cable we put in years ago was deliberately way over rated too - which meant that for the 32amp welder socket all we needed was to run a short length of cable and an old 32amp fuse of it's own -ended up being a cheaper job than we thought it would be.

And another one to make a few people cringe - the switch I put before the 32amp socket - it's all I had to hand and was meant only as a temporary fix but works well enough.

Perfectly acceptable, I had issues going from old fuses to rods and mcbs

And in the lathe area as well-- can never be too careful, so when or where ever we are welding -- extinguisher goes with us as well.
