Love watching these videos to see how some cheaper ones like irwin compare with knipex at twice the price and with snap on at nearly 4 times the price.

I find proper un-sponsored reveiews/tests are few and far between on the 'tube so I do like Project Farm's stuff. He really strives for rigorous testing without massively expensive testing kit.

heavier gauge side cutters may be fine for things above 1mm, but if the cutting edges have had a hard life they just flatten small diameter wire.

Knippex is my go to brand for side cutters.

Only once have they let me down, it was my fault. I cut a live 24v30A cable and the eart side. Took a chunk out of the jaws.

I like project farm for some stuff but the side cutters test is very limited, it’s simply a strength test.
Side cutters I’d say are most used by sparks and 90% of use is not hard at all, it’s better to have comfortable, smooth, accurate cutting than outright strength. I’m not particularly fussy with side cutters, I have snap-on (crap), NWS, Knipex and currently in my most used bag are the CK’s. I’m sure I’d be happy with the Wiha‘s too as their other gear is excellent.

Side cutter, stripper for 1 and 2.5, shear cutter for 3.5 and 4mm screws and a slot for bending over wire…what more do you need

I said "I have a blue point pair that I bought before you started work and they're still going strong. I reckon I bought then in '83 or '84 when I was an apprentice."

there hopeless cutting and stripping hundreds of cables a day. the 2 holes in the blade stop you cutting all the cores at once

True, forgot that bit. If you could get it right you could clean cut 2.5/4 using the end part. TBF I’d just use croppers for anything heavier…
