SIF Auto helmet

Hi,
I have realised why my welds are turning out so lumpy.
It's because my SIF Auto Darkening helmet is too dark and I can't see the pool, especially outside in daylight.
I have tried twiddling all the buttons and knobs in all the cominations possibel to no avail.
Is this a SIF helmet feature, am I missing something. ?
What helmet would suit me better if I wanted a less dark glass.?
Price isn't a problem, so long as it is good quality and lasts years.

you need to cover the rear of the helmet to stop the light getting in see picture

other way is a piece of leather duct taped on to the top of studs you get the idea

other point is with helmets is how close is your face to the screen my cheap helmet face was too faw away from screen
on my speedglas much nearer get less reflections etc but cost £200
no i did not pay that for it

Thanks for that young man, I will try a hat first before dumping the helmet.
