Sight Glasses & Plaques?

Looking for a supplier of 1.5” sight glasses for my mill?
Anyone have a contact/website?

also I need this plaque copied.

when my manual arrives I’ll be able to find out the rest of the feed rates.

Obviously it doesn’t matter if it’s black/silver aluminium, black and gold on brass, lasered on aluminium etc just something would be an improvement.

Looks like the Elliott/Victoria Logo and underneath that “TURRETMILL”.

Top right, an arrow with “INCH/MIN” underneath.

then all the feed speeds for the three lever positions and two gear ratios.

At the bottom, “USE Shell Vitrea Oil 37” Although i might change this to the Modern equivalent.

You can etch your own plates using fairly basic materials and techniques, check YouTube.

Rob is the main man, I have bought glasses for motorcycle speedo and ammeter, I will look in case I have a 1.5" on my shelf, they manufacture, Rob may remember me as Pat the BMW guy from up the road, maybe a group buy if anyone else wants one?

Are they threaded or push in?

Is it that you have tried a Google search for 'oil sight glass' and cannot find a suitable one (because searching in this way will find many suppliers of said item) or that you have not yet tried that route?

On the plaque, the cost will be in the preparation of the artwork. The actual printing/engraving/etching is minor. You will need to supply a good quality photograph of the original and some dimensions (like overall size and proportions of the grid). There is probably four hours work at your normal shop rate to produce a vector file of the plaque. So if you do this yourself, you will save considerably. If you can photocopy the original onto clear acetate, you can then print out working copies of your vector file at regular intervals and overlay to see how well it fits.

I’ve tried google and none have the oil level line across the middle of the window.

A couple of videos on the plaque/tag making:

Take away points:

Make your background image as large as possible and then reduce it at the end.

Scan it rather than photograph it as then you start with something flat and not distorted by perspective.

The Aussie fellow had his ink run as he applied the waterslide: you can stop this by giving it a light coat of lacquer before you put it in the water bath.

I’m not looking to make the plaque myself.
I haven’t got the time nor do I want to get involved in another skill/ hobby.

I would rather pay someone who has the equipment and the skills.

a better solution, and not at all expensive, instrument glasses are worth noting for bevelled edge and maybe domed, ground edge or cut, they have an awful lot of equipment, modern and very old, not many firms like them left, not sure how they would react to a one off order, I always walked in and asked,
